The strength of any society depends on the vigour of communities made up of responsible individuals who are aware and proud of their cultural roots.

Inverness County, with its deep sense of community and tradition, has long been an important contributor to the wider Canadian community in many fields of endeavour... but none more creatively and successfully than Celtic music.

The Celtic music of Inverness County is enriched by the past and full of promise for the future. But that promise can only be fulfilled by a conscious and concerted effort to build on the success of past and present community-based efforts.

The Mission Statement of the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre is to collect, preserve and promote the traditional Celtic music of Cape Breton Island through Education, Research and Performance.
