The Celtic Music Centre is a not-for-profit society and
a one-of-a-kind facility located in the tiny village of
Judique, Cape Breton Island. Our mandate is to collect,
preserve and promote the traditional Celtic music of
Cape Breton Island through Education, Research and
Designated the "Official Celtic Music
Centre of Nova Scotia" and the Official Cultural
Archives for the County of Inverness, the CMIC offers an
in-depth look into the history, culture and music
Cape Breton Island in an authentic and lively atmosphere.

band THE FRETLESS to CMIC! Round up some friends and come out

Recipients of multiple Canadian Folk Music
Awards, Western Canadian Awards, and most
recently, a JUNO Award for Instrumental Album of
the Year, Western Canadian band The Fretless
have a new approach to folk music that is
quickly gaining high acclaim around the world.
This unique band is taking string music to
fascinating places as it transforms fiddle tunes
and folk melodies into intricate, fascinating,
high-energy arrangements. The Fretless is an
innovation in music that must be heard. They
harbour all the energy of fiddle tunes, while
shattering all expectations.

Celtic Culture Demonstrations
Take part in a 20-minute demo with one of our
basics of Cape Breton's unique Celtic music, culture and
Gaelic language. Our musician will cover an array of
fun facts, explain and demonstrate the different tune
types commonly played, teach you a few Gaelic
words & more.
Buddy MacMaster Fiddle Camp
Each October we welcome
students of all ages from around the world for our week-long fiddle
camp during the
Celtic Colours International
The camp is aimed at intermediate and advanced fiddlers
of all styles who want to learn the Cape Breton style.
Learn in a fun,
relaxed and authentic environment from 10 of the finest Cape Breton
fiddlers. Register for individual days or for the full week.
